Mentor PLUS - People Learning & Uniting in Service
Mentor PLUS is a program tailored to specifically meet the mentoring, academic, recreation, and enrichment needs of upper elementary and middle school disadvantaged youth. Mentoring is defined as an ongoing structured relationship with a trusted individual aimed at developing the competence and potential of the mentee. The goals of the Mentor PLUS Program are to establish a one year, once a week mentoring relationship with a caring adult. The Mentor Program will help the mentee develop both socially and academically.
Are You Interested in Being a Mentor?
Would you like to give back to your community? To be a mentor, we ask you to give an hour of your time once a week, for one year. For more information on how to become a mentor, visit the mentor information page to read more about mentoring and obtain the appropriate forms.
Know Someone Who Could Benefit from Having a Mentor?
If you have a student grades 4-8 and believe they could benefit from having a mentor, please contact Susan Smoker for more information about the program and to get directions on how to enroll your student.
All mentoring takes place at safe sites (i.e. Alma Middle School, Alma High School). Some activities are off site but are supervised by trained staff. To see a list of activities for the month, please go to the mentoring activities page.
